Son of Lillian V. (nee Roberts) & Charles Herbert Browne of Allen Street, Hamilton, Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 7 July 1915 and embarked from Sydney for active service abroad on 30 September 1915 per HMAT "Argyllshire" (A8). He died of wounds received in action, aged 24 years.
