Excerpt from the diary of Oliver Morton Wallen: Feb. 17, 1905, the day after Willie died: "...we had to bury Willie without any funeral. We had a song and prayer at the cemetry."

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1905

W. T. Wallen, recently of Kentucky, died at Kempner Thursday night, Feb. 16, of consumption. A coffin was sent down from here in which to inter the body.
