Edward William Du Val of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was KIA in a friendly fire incident near Neuville-Saint-Vitasse. Edward had been a CPR superintendent at Moose Jaw prior to the war, and left a wife Stella Mary (Cameron) and daughter Corinne at Saskatoon where he was studying at the university when he enlisted in the 196th Battalion early in 1917.

Geo-memorial: The village of Duval just north of Strasbourg on highway 20 was named by the CPR before the war (1907). The CPR sidings of Stelcam southeast of Moose Jaw and Corinne northwest of Milestone were named for Edward's wife and daughter.
