Second Lieutenant Albert V Agostino, born in 1920, was the son of Vincent and Domenica (Rossatto) Agostino of Vineland, Cumberland County, New Jersey. Vineland is in southern New Jersey 36 miles south of Philadelphia, PA.

In the 1930 census 10-year-old Albert is living with his parents and sister Mary 14, at 325 Erin Street in Landis, Cumberland County, New Jersey. His father is a laborer for a cement works.Albert attended the H.L. Reber School in Vineland.In the 1940 census 20-year-old Albert is living with his parents and sister Mary 24, at 325 Erin Street in Landis, Cumberland County, New Jersey. His father is a laborer for a road construction company.

Albert enlisted 20 Jun 1942 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He’d had 4 years of high school and was single with dependents. His occupation was in the production of glass and glass products.

The 455th Bomb Group was based out of San Giovanni Field north northeast of Foggia, Italy. Per MACR (Missing Air Crew Report) 11703, Lt. Augostino was the navigator on B-24 42-94938 741st Bomb Squadron/455th Bomb Group piloted by 2nd Lt Harold R Zebaun. On a mission to bomb Blechammer, Germany, their aircraft was last seen under control with the number three engine feathered.The NARA WWII casualty listing by state and county show Agostino, Albert V, 2 Lt, from Cumberland County, New Jersey as FOD (Finding of Death) on 27 Aug 1944. A finding of death was determined at least one year and one day after a soldier or airman went missing in action. His body must have been recovered later.
