Llywllyn served as a Private, Company B, in the 307th Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Lewis County, New York prior to the war.

Llywllyn was "Killed In Action" in Naples, Italy as the result of an explosion in a barracks that was caused by ammunition being incorrectly stored by the previous engineer unit that had been in that barracks.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
