Technical Sergeant Glen O Wichner, South Dakota, Service Number 6939905, flew as radio operator and aerial gunner on B-24 Liberators with the 36th Bomb Squadron, 482nd Bomb Group. He was killed during a cross country training flight on 27 Dec 1943 in a modified B-24 bomber, #42-40474, when it collided with a mountain near Widecombe in Devon, United Kingdom.
