HULL - Mrs. Olene "Jo" Benton, 76, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Benton was a daughter of the late Leonard L. and Luvie Smith Adams. She was a homemaker and was a member of Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Passmore officiating. Burial
was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Mrs. Benton's nephews served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Benton is survived by her husband, James A. Benton; daughter, Kathy Watson Connell, Danielsville; sons, Gary Walker, Henderson, N.C., and Sammy Walker, Lawrenceville; sisters, Allane Perry, Commerce, and Ouida Creswell, Abbeville; five grandchildren, Melinda Spence, Kristi Watson, Candice White, Kevin Walker and Ashley Walker; four great-grandchildren, Mary Beth
Spence, Karey Spence, Holden White and Garret White; and several nieces and nephews.
