August Balow, 88, Dies at Sons Home

August Balow, 88, formerly of Eau Claire, died Sunday at the home of his son, Dwight Balow at Colby, with whom he had been living the past five years.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at Owen, with burial in Lake View cemetery.

Mr. Balow, who was born at Wabasha, Minn, came to Eau Claire in 1887 and for 25 years was engineer at the Daniel Shaw Lumber Co. mill here. In 1912 he moved to Owen where he worked as engineer for the John S Owen Lumber co., for several years and later for the power company there.Five years ago he went to live with his son at Colby.

Besides his son Dwight he is survived by another son, Alfred W. Balow, of Eau Claire, a daughter Mrs. C.V. Becker, of Schenectady, N.Y. and a sister Mrs. Milton Roundy of Wabasha.
