Cook was graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1947. He went to OSU, played quarterback, and graduated in 1951 making Honorable Mention to the All American football team, and played in the Blue-Gray, North-South All Star-game, Bob served in the Korean, Lebanon, and Vietnam wars, and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. The movie Pork Chop Hill, portrayed Lt. Robert S. Cook in the film as he made himself a human bridge for his men to go over him: Bob was preceded in death by one son, and his mother Mary B. Cook, and father William C. Cook.
Survivors include his wife Alice, two daughters, one sister Mary K. James, Oklahoma .City, brothers William C. Jr., Hermon Lee, both of Tulsa, Dr. Harold D. Cook, Shawnee, H.K. 'Duke' Cook of Tonkawa, Dr. Raymond E. Cook of Hinton, Oklahoma, a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Donations may be given in his name of the American Cancer Society.
