graduated from Thornton Fraction High School and Valparaiso University Law school where he took part in football, basketball, track and tennis. His senior year, at Valparaiso University, he was co-captain of the football team. He practiced law in Calumet City before accepting a position as attorney for the US Land Acquisition Service. married to Mary Durand.

Entered Naval Reserve service on March 12, 1943

killed in action - USS Halligan sunk off Okinawa, Japan - Participated in the invasions of Normandy and southern france, serving aboard the Bayfield where he was promoted from ensign to lieutenant.
