Mrs. John Ryan
Howell, June 13 - The death of Mrs. John Ryan occurred at the family home on North State street early Monday morning following a few weeks illness. Mrs. Ryan was the widow of the late John Ryan, who for some 40 years published the Livingston County Democrat, a weekly newspaper here, and who died in April 1932. Since his death she has maintained the home here alone, one of her daughters, however, spending the greater part of the time with her.
Mrs. Ryan was Miss Hannah McCarthy before her marriage to Mr. Ryan, which took place here on October 17, 1899, and virtually all her life had been spent here. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, Howell.
Surviving are two daughters, Gertrude, now Mrs. Peter Smith of this city, and Ellen Marie now Mrs. William Rohan of Streator, Ill; also two grandchildren, Maryanne Smith and Mary Rohan. She also leaves five sisters, Mrs. F.J. O'Connell of Lansing, Mrs. L.Scullin of Hartland, the Misses Mary and Veronica McCarthy of Fenton, and Mrs. Katherine Hemstead of Flint; also one brother, C.H. McCarthy of Deerfield, this county.
Funeral services are to be conducted from St. Joseph's church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, the Rev. Fr. H.P. Fedora officiating. Internment by the side of the husband in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
