Fred was born in London. He married Rachel in Belfast in 1908 & had 2 children. He was living in London at the outbreak of war and served with the 15th Royal Irish Rifles. There were many casualties on 1st July 1916 of the 15th who fought with the 36th Division at Thiepval.
His grave is located just left of the Cross of Sacrifice
