While at the University she met her future husband, Edwin S. "Ed" Gustafson, Sr. Mrs. Gustafson became the daughter-in-law of Mama and Papa Gus and worked in the family dairy as a cashier and later was a devoted homemaker. She had been a member of the River Club, San Jose Country Club, Jacksonville Symphony Guild, Jacksonville Women's Club, President of the PTA, President of the Women's Garden Club in Green Cove Springs and was very involved in charitable activities. The J.P. Hall Children's Charities was near and dear to her heart. She supported Quigley House as well as other community churches and charities.
Mrs. Gustafson loved to entertain friends at her home and play Bridge with her girlfriends. She enjoyed fishing at her pond, lunching with her family and enjoying the company of her dogs, Tina and Bruno.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her sisters, Iola Spayd and Janet Stephens and her beloved husband, Edwin S. "Ed" Gustafson, Sr. She is survived by her son, Edwin Sherwood Gustafson, Jr. (Myrtice Tanner Gustafson) of Green Cove Springs; daughter, Gail Gustafson Wagner (Herman Hodges, Jr.) of Green Cove Springs; grandchildren, Sheryl Gustafson Salazar (Tommy), Edwin Sherwood Gustafson, III, Gary Louis Wagner, Jr. (Tammy), Gina Gustafson Seman (Jeffrey) and Christopher John Wagner (Amy Griffin); great-grandchildren, Waylon Wade Woods (Heather Ross), Ashley Gustafson, William Baird-Tanner Woods, Ethan Shane Woods, Edwin Sherwood Gustafson, IV, Aaron Gregory James Harris, Julia Grace Gustafson, Rachael Agnes Gustafson Harris, Victoria Gracelyn Greenway, Rebecca Elizabeth Harris, Christina Tommie Salazar, Thomas Luke Salazar, Jr., Jewel'Lynn Taylor, Cooper Griffin Wagner and Gracie Morgan Wagner ; great-great-grandchild, Laney Wade Woods and her many wonderful friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services and interment will be private family only.Arrangements are under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St., Green Cove Springs, FL.
