My memory of Donnie was that the family was very gentle and concerned about him. When I first remember him he was blind and a late teenager? He always lived with aunt Mary and I always thought he was her son. She lost her husband Andy when I was small. Mom & the aunts were always taking things to Mary, food and clothes. They lived in a tiny house south of Blue Ridge. She did not have electricity and had an Ice Box and used "Coal oil" lamps for light. Whenever I smell kerosene lamp or one of the heaters, I will immediately think of her and Donnie. I gave him my electric guitar when I joined the Navy. - David Gahimer
