General Electric retiree, John Blewett, 89 dies

John A. Blewett, 89, of 160 W. 8th, died Thursday at Hamot Medical Center.

He was born in Pendeen, England, on Aug. 3, 1899, son of the late Frank and Jane Noal Blewett. He worked for General Electric Co. in the GE Locomotive Division for 42 years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary Episcopal Church and the East Erie Turners.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Mountain Blewett, and five nieces, Mrs. Don (Enid) Bishop and Mrs. Floyd (Audrey) Gilbert, both of Erie, Mrs. Floyd (Iris) Knoll of Meadville, Irene Ferguson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Floyd (Jean) McKee of Las Vegas.

Friends may call at Chester S. Schaal Funeral Home, 550 W. 9th, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held at St. Mary Episcopal Church on Tuesday at II a.m. The Rev. Terry Russell will officiate.

Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Episcopal Church, (562 Silliman Ave., Lawrence Park, Pa. 16511.
