Killed in air crash in South Pacific aboard C-47A #42-93499.


On September 25, 1944, C-47A Skytrain #42-93499 departed Townsville, Queensland, Australia and flew to Lae Field, New Guinea. The transport then departed for Nadzab Airfield, New Guinea. But it never arrived. The airplane was missing with four crewmembers and three passenger aboard.


Search flights were flown over the intended route, but no trace of the plane or any of the persons aboard were ever located. The War Department official declared the men missing and presumed dead on April 3, 1946. Missing Air Crew Report № 14321.


The airplane was assigned to the 46th Troop Carrier Squadron, 317th T.C. Group, 5th Air Force.
