DEATH OF MR. A. G. CHAFFE.

[Webster Signal, July 12, 1901.]
Mr. Arthur G. Chaffe died suddenly in Shreveport last Wednesday night. The remains were brought to Minden Thursday evening for burial. The funeral services were held at St. John's Episcopal church and were conducted by Dr. Joseph Spearing, of Shreveport, the interment taking place in the Minden cemetery. The news of his death caused wide-spread sorrow throughout the community and the funeral services were attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and sympathetic friends.

Mr. Chaffe was one of Minden's influential business men, and at the time of his death was connected with the Bank of Minden and was also clerk of the Police Jury. He leaves a devoted wife and three little girls to mourn his untimely death.

He was a worthy citizen, a man devoted to his family, loyal to his friends and it is sad to see such a man suddenly stricken by the grim reaper while in the midst of an honorable and useful career, with everything to indicate a long life of happiness and prosperity. The uncertainty of human life, with its aspirations, hopes and busy affairs, is strikingly illustrated and emphasized in the unexpected taking off of this comparatively young man.

*A. G. Chaffe had gone to Lake Providence and Cooper Wells for his health according to The Shreveport Times of July 4, 1901 for an undisclosed illness.
