Susan's obituary was published in the May 24, 1962 issue of the Darien News, Darien, McIntosh County, Georgia, Page 1, Column 4:
"Rites Held for Mrs. Blanton
Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Gertrude Blanton were held at the First Baptist Church of Darien May 22, with the Rev. Joe Kindred, officiating. Interment followed in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Mrs. Blanton died at the Sinclair Nursing Home, Thunderbolt, on May 20 following an extended illness. She was 85.
Mrs. Blanton was the wife of the late Mr. William Blanton. She served as Postmaster at Ridgeville prior to joining the staff of the Darien Post Office about 1920. She was a member of the Darien Baptist church and a native of Effingham County."
