Mrs. Bonnel Dead
Mrs. Catherine Bonnel, widow of the late William S. Bonnel, died at the home of her son, Thomas, four miles north of town, Sunday, February 3, 1901, aged 91 years, 7 months and 24 days.

The subject of this sketch was one of the oldest pioneers of Platte County. She was born in North Carolina, June 10, 1809; in 1832 was married to William S. Bonnel and in 1839 came to Platte county where she lived and died on the same farm. To this union eleven children were born, ten of whom are living, six daughters and four sons, viz: Charles F. Bonnel, Atchison county, Kan.; Mrs. Rebecca J. Simmons, Kansas City; Mrs. Elizabeth Henson, Mrs. Leah Shouse, Jonathan Bonnel, Henry Bonnel, Mrs. Maggie Lamar, Thomas Bonnel, Mrs. Mary Shouse, Weston, Mo., Mrs. Martha Murray, Blackhawk, Colo.

Deceased had for over forty years been a true Christian member of the Baptist church at Bee Creek. She had been a faithful wife and kind mother and had numerous friends.

Funeral took place at the home where she died. Services were to be conducted by Rev. Everett of Camden Point but on account of the deep snow he was unable to be present. John, 14 chapter was read by R. W. Calvert. This passage of Scripture had been selected by Mrs. Bonnel before her death, to be read at her funeral, which took place Tuesday. The remains were interred in the family burying ground near the old homestead. All the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Murray of Colorado. 2-8-1901
