Vermillion – W.L. (Ham) Chaussee, 52, former South Dakota state senator, died Friday afternoon in a Sioux City Hospital.
~Chaussee, who farmed near here, had been hospitalized since Sept. 3, when a gasoline transport struck the rear of a tractor as Chaussee was about to turn into a farm driveway.
~Chaussee had lived in Vermillion his entire life and was a graduate of the University of South Dakota. He served three terms as state senator, from 1931 to 1936.
