Nancy Jane Young was the first of six children born in Lawrence Township, Oregon County, Missouri to William W. Young and Evelina Haskins-Young.

Nancy Jane Young was first married to George W. Norton on February 10, 1870 in Randolph County, AR. They had two children, Oscar, born 1870 and Rose Norton, born 1872. Nancy was widowed after her husband suffered a fatal rattle snake bite.
Nancy Jane Young's second marriage was to Charles Deanin Newman, age 32, an emigrant from Stockholm, Sweden, on December 6, 1873 in Demun, AR. They lived in Randolph County, Arkansas and Oregon County, Missouri and parented nine children, John, b. 1875, William, b. 1876,Charles, b. 1877, Lund Deanin, b.1878, Evaline, b. 1881, James, b. 1882, Johanna, b. 1884, Georgia (Etta), b. 1887, a twin of a boy boy still born.

Charles Deanin Newman died May, 1918 at age 78. He was buried in the Myrtle Cemetery.

Nancy Young-Norton-Newman died October 9th, 1922 at age 75. She was buried in the Myrtle Cemetery, Oregon County, Missouri next to Charles Deanin Newman. She was survived by John Newman of Egypt, Lawrence County, AR; Evelena Newman of Oregon County, AR; William Newman of Myrtle, MO; Johannah Newman-Decker of Edmond, OK; James Samuel Newman of Texas, in addition to Nancy's two children, Oscar and Rosa Norton from her previous marriage to George Norton, and many grandchildren. Her deceased children were Charles Lund, Etta and the still born baby boy.
