Marshall Winfield Giles was the son of Isaac M. and Esther M (Gray) Giles. He died from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle-pedestrian accident after being struck in Franklin, New Hampshire.

He lived in the Tilton-Laconia area after spending many years in Maine and worked for over 26 years in the parts department at Robins Auto in Laconia and Franklin. At the time of his death he was working part time at the Franklin branch.

His father died while on duty overseas during World War I when Mr. Giles was only six months old. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Freemont S. Giles. Marshall served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Frances H. Lowell in 1945 and had a son, Lowell M. Giles. He later married Glenice E. Chase, having several step-children.
