This is a memorial marker for Paul Barnes. He was one of the casualties of the USS Indianapolis.

On 30 July 1945, between Guam and Leyte Gulf,The Indianapolis was sunk by torpedoes fired by a Japanese submarine. Of the 1,196 aboard, only 317 survived. Paul Barnes body was not recovered.
