Obituary: Nancy L. Browning

PENDLETON - Nancy L. Browning, 71, of Pendleton, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services for Browning will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 2, in the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton with interment following at Skyview Memorial Park.

Nancy LaClara Jones was born January 30, 1939, in Joplin, Missouri to Clyde and Edith Jones. She grew up in Joplin and attended school there until the family relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 1954. In 1960 she married Eldon M. Browning Sr. They lived in the Pendleton area until his death in 2001. She married Lloyd Flitz in 2003 and continued to live in the Pendleton area.

Nancy was a homemaker who kept very busy caring for eight children. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with family and friends. She cared deeply for her family and even cared for several family members in their finals days.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a past member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Pendleton.

Survivors include: husband Lloyd Flitz of Pendleton; sons Eldon M. Browning Jr., David Browning both of Pendleton; and Edward Browning of Hillsboro; daughters Deloris Wilkins of Winston; Kathleen Preston of Montesano, Wash.; and Jennifer Nolan of Pendleton; as well as several brothers and sisters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eldon M. Browning Sr., a daughter Pamela Sue Browning, a son Robert J. Browning, as well as her mother, father, several brothers and sisters, and 3 granddaughters.
