Vickie was a 1977 graduate of Crockett High School, where she was the first Black twirler her Junior and Senior Year. She was also selected as being Who's Who among the Country's most outstanding High School Music Students, which was publicized in the 1977 edition of Who's Who in Music.
Vickie moved to Houston, Texas where she worked for MD Anderson Hospital, as an Administrative Secretary. Vickie was a dedicated musician at the Friendship Baptist Church, until her health failed.
Two grandfathers, one grandmother, and two aunts preceded in her in death.
