Obituary of Matthew Trimble
Sidell Journal April 24, 1914 page 1

Matthew Trimble, the son of William and Anna Trimble, was born December 7, 1825, Coshocton county, Ohio. He was married in Ohio to Cassandra Pyman, who died in 1862. There were born to this marriage four children, two of whom are living namely: Rebecca Ann Hildreth, of Danville, and Mrs. Rachel Bennett, of Sidell. He came to Illinois in 1863 and engaged in herding on these virgin prairies a large flock of sheep, 700 head or more. Impressed with the country he decided to make his home here, and in 1865 on April 7 he was married to Mrs. Liddie Harvey. To this marriage were born four children, two of whom are living namely: Chauncey N. Trimble, of Sidell, and Lucy Hite, of Iola, Kansas. Mrs. Trimble died April 30, 1907, since which time he lived a few years in Sidell, but the last few years has made his home with his son on old home place. He leaves brother, Armour Trimble, of Marion, Indiana, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Peginan of Iowa. "Grandpa" Trimble was interested in the religious life of this community from the beginning of his residence here, being originally a member of the Lutheran church in Ohio, but became a Methodist and was one of the character members of the Methodist church Sidell. "Grandpa" Trimble died Wednesday morning, April 8, passing peacefully away, being found as though sleeping by his son when he went to dress him in the morning. "Grandpa" will be missed by many, but by none more than his many grandchildren and more than 20 great grandchildren and even two great great grandchildren.
