RALPH W. ANDREWS

Ralph W. Andrews, youngest son of C. L. and Emma Andrews, was born June 26, 1890, and passed away at the Yocom hospital June 10, 1958, after an illness of three weeks at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 10 days.

Dr. Andrews had been in failing health for some time but was able to be about his duties as doctor until Sunday morning, May 18, when he was stricken with a severe hemorrhage and was rushed to the Yocom hospital where all the medical skill and kind and thoughtful care failed to save his life.

When a young man he was employed at the Eikenberry Lumber Yard, later going to Craig, Colo., where he was on homestead for three years, going from there to Galesburg, Ill., where he was employed with the C. B. & Q. Railroad. He then came to Chariton where for the past 30 years he has served the community as a Doctor of Chiropractic.

He was an active member of the First Baptist church, having served faithfully on the Board of Trustees and as Church Treasurer.

He was predeced in death by his father and mother and one sister.

On April 12, 1939 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Cora McDonnell, who is left to mourn his passing. Also surviving are a brother, Carl, and two nephews, Donald and Roger, of Omaha, several cousins and a host of friends.

Dr. Andrews was a man who loved his home and was a man of many hobbies. He loved nature in all its forms and was a lover and grower of flowers, taking great pride in beautifying his lawn.

He was a kind and loving husband and a staunch friend, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in distress. He will be greatly missed by his wife, brother and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Thursday, June 12 at 3 p.m. The Rev. John W. Bauserman officiated. Burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
