The oldest child of William Kenneth Lytle and Selma Mills, Oka lived in Lawrence County, Illinois during her early childhood. The family then moved to Iowa, before settling in Chicago. She graduated from Summer High School.

Oka married Joseph William "Joe" Ingle on 19 Jun 1943 in Oklahoma. The couple did not have any children of their own, but Oka enjoyed summer visits from her nieces and nephews.

According to Oka's obituary published in the Alton Telegraph on 07 Feb 2004, the children's favorite activities were "fishing on the rocks, retrieving stray cattle, perusing family photo albums and absorbing the beauty of Calhoun County."

Oka enjoyed travel and gardening. She was a piano teacher and played the organ and piano at her church for many years. She was well-known for her photographic skills, and her ability to document events with her ever-present camera.

Oka was a member of the Eastern Star and served four terms as worthy matron.

Joe was a fruit inspector and a farmer before his retirement in 1975. He was the Superintendent of the Illinois Horticulture Department for a time.

Joe passed away in 1977.

Oka then married David Lee "Armond" Jones on 15 Dec 1979 in Batchtown, Calhoun County, Illinois. He was the widower of Louise Schlinker Willenburg. Armond lived until 1988.

Oka's third husband was Gerald Oakley "Jerry" Pederson. She married him on 06 Jun 1990 in Olmsted, Minnesota. He died in 2003.

Oka died 10 days after her 92nd birthday at the Calhoun Care Center. She was survived by 2 sisters, Myrtle Bishop of Houston, Texas, and Betty Heberer of Lake Elsinore, California; 3 nieces; and 3 nephews.

In addition to her parents, Oka was preceded in death by all 3 of her husbands; 1 sister, Velma; and 1 brother, Kenneth.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the beginning of funeral services at noon on 09 Feb 2004 at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin. Oka was buried next to both of her first 2 husbands.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the Batchtown Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.

Oka's sister, Velma, is also buried at Ingle Cemetery.
