"Arrived in Nacogdoches county on Christmas Day 1836 from Madison County, Tennessee...Soon after their arrival...William and James Jacobs...bought at a sheriff sale a tract of land called the "Piedras Tract" that lay between the Carrizo and Puentezuellas Creeks. Piedras was the last Mexican governor of the Nacogdoches District...his lands were seized and sold...The (families from Tennessee) settled on the land between the Carrizo and Puentezuellas."
