Death Follows Fervent Prayer
A Turlock Farmer Believed to Have Been Killed by His Wife During Religious Frenzy.
MODESTO, November 4. -- That Mrs. Bonnett killed her husbad, who was found dead in bed last Wednesday morning, is now implicitly believed by the officers here. James Bonnett is a rancher near Turlock. With his wife he returned from an evangelistic service Tuesday night.
During the night they were heard singing and prayer with fervor. In the morning Bonnett was found dead in bed. His wife was a raving maniac. She continually says now that she killed her husband because God ordained it.
Marks on Bonnett's face show violence and his nose is bitten clear through. The woman's hands show marks of the man's teeth. Mrs. Bonnett will have a hearing on Saturday.
