Mrs. Fannie Buchanan, life long resident of Gonzales county and of Wrightsboro community, died Saturday at 3:15 p.m. in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Roberts of Lockhart, following a few days illness. She was 95 years, 4 months and 20 days of age having been born in this county on Sept., 20, 1857, and was one of the oldest citizens of the county.
Her parents were Nancy Aught, native Texan, and Boon Dillard of Tennessee. Seventy-seven years ago on June 22, 1874, she was married to F. M. To them were born 14 children, four preceded her in death, two dying early in life and two sons, Joe and Ed a few years back.
At the age of 12 she joined the Presbyterian church and was a member for 82 years, the oldest living member at the time the Wrightsboro church was torn down some years ago.
The body was brought to Gonzales by Seydler funeral home Saturday afternoon where a prayer was held before going to Wrightsboro for services at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Baptist church there. Conducting the last rites were the Rev. J. C. Harris, pastor of the Wrightsboro church, and the Rev. Lawrence K. Brown, pastor of the Lockhart Methodist church. Interment was in the Wrightsboro cemetery with pallbearers being James Buchanan, Terrell Bozarth, N. B. Bozarth, Henry Klein, Cecil Thompson, Nookie Bozarth, Robert Buchanan and O. C. Logan.
