Son of W. Dodge & Julia Minnie (Thurston) Burke.

Husband of Eleanor (Brown) Burke.

Mrs. Edwin Burke received a telegram from the War Department last Monday stating that her husband, Pvt. Edwin Burke, was missing in action. The message read: The Secretary of War desires me to express his deep regret that your husband, Pvt. Edwin D. Burke, has been reported missing in action since Nov. 25th, in Germany. If further details or other information are received you will be promptly notified. This is the first one of the several boys from Pine Grove, who are serving in different parts of the service that has been reported missing. He is the youngest son of the late Dodge and Julia Burke, and has always lived here. He married Miss Eleanor Brown, of Lyons Falls, a few years ago. Much sympathy is extended to her and his brothers and sister and hope he may still be safe somewhere over there.
