Susan (Wingate) Davisson was the daughter of Peter Wingate (1787-1864) who was born in Maryland and died in Macon County, Missouri; and Eliza (Ward) Wingate (1799-1845) who is believed to have been born in Virginia and died presumably in Maryland as that is where she is buried.

The 1850, 1870, and 1880 census records for Susan (Wingate) Davisson, show her birthplace as Delaware and her father's birthplace as Maryland and her mother's as Virginia.

Susan's mother died in 1845 at the age of 46 and is buried in Bethel Cemetery, Chesapeak City, Cecil County, Maryland. After this, Susan's father took the children and moved to Ohio.

The 1850 census of Clark County, Ohio, shows Susan's father and 5 children in the home (Susan at age 17 with 2 sisters and 2 brothers):

Susan died in 1894 and James in 1927, and both are buried at Hopewell Cemetery in Macon County, Missouri. Their daughter Nellie Jane (Davisson) Hungate and her husband Jefferson Davis Hungate are buried next to them. Their daughter Sarah (Davisson) Borron and son Lysurcus Davisson are also buried at this cemetery.
