George C. Birk was born Sept. 5, 1907, in Jasper County, a son of Erhart and Ollie Mae Brown Birk. He married Nellie Stanley April 10, 1925, in Jasper County. She died June 18, 1969. He married Verna Whiteley Buse June 12, 1971. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Hobert, Gilbert and Jimmie "Pete"; four daughters, Eloise Jones, Kathelene Lee, Patricia Calvo and Linda Smith; one sister, Lucy Woods; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Five sons, one grandson; two great-grandsons, three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
