STEPHEN EUGENE MALAN PASSES
Services Will Be Held Thursday in Fifth Ward
Stephen Eugene Malan, 57, died Monday at 10 a.m. at the home of his sister, Cora Hileman, 850 W. 7th South St., Salt Lake, after a cerebral hemorrage. He was born June 26, 1874, at Ogden, the eldest son of Stephen and Sarah Chestnut Malan. He had lived in Ogden most of his life and was married here to Sarah Ann Fowers on June 25, 1897. He was employed for many years as brakeman and conductor for the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroads. His wife died several years ago. He resided at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Blaine Hulmston of Ogden, until two months ago.
Surviving are the children; Eva (Blaine) Hulmston, Laura (John) Shearer, and George Earl Malan, of Ogden; Phyllis (Alfred) Van Namae, of Los Angeles; Four grandchildren, a brother, Gus Malan and a half brother J.C. Slade, of Ogden and a sister, Mrs. Hileman of Salt Lake.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Fifth ward chapel with Bishop Frank Simmons presiding. The body may be viewed at the Malan funeral home this evening and on Wednesday morning at the home of Mrs. Hulmston, 2766 Wall Ave., Wednesday evening and on Thursday until the time of services.
Interment will be made in the Ogden City Cemetery.
