Victor William Campbell, Sr., 82, of Oshkosh, passed away, Sunday, November 11, 2007, at the Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oshkosh with Wayne Fraass, P.M.A. officiating. Interment will be in the Oshkosh City Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in Victor's name.

Victor William Campbell Sr. was born August 14, 1925 to Ora E. and Alma Fern (McCabe) Campbell in Oshkosh, Nebraska. He grew up on farms near Oshkosh and attended country schools. He graduated from Garden County High School in 1944.

Victor and Carol June Zorn were married April 11, 1950 in Oshkosh. Vic and Carol started their married life in a basement house. Vic continued to build onto their house as their family grew. They lived there until 1976 when they bought the Murray Lorenzen farm northwest of Oshkosh.

Victor was a lifelong resident of Garden County. Vic was always busy with custom farming. Through the years, he had a tree-cutting service, moved buildings, did custom harvesting, hauled hay and cattle and had a trucking business with his son Bill. Victor loved to hunt and play cards.

Victor was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and served many years on the church council. He enjoyed playing on the men's dart ball team. Vic was a volunteer fireman for 30 years and served on the Oshkosh City Council.

Victor and Carol had four children, Vickie Jean, Judy Lee, Carol Lynn and Victor William Campbell Jr. (Bill).

Survivors include his daughters Vickie (Bill) Shoemaker of Cambridge, NE, Judy (Dick) Volkman of Ponca, NE, Carol Campbell-Scherer of Bastrop, TX and son William (Jill) of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, Jim (Tricia) Shoemaker, Jeff Shoemaker, John Shoemaker, Joel (Kristi) Shoemaker, Matt (Erica) Tophoj, Victoria Volkman, Jennifer Scherer, Julia Scherer and six great grandchildren, Chance, Noah, Madison and Taten Shoemaker, Owen and Mike Tophoj.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents, his sister Nina, his brother Connie, and grandson Mike Tophoj.
