Mrs. Effie Flowers

Mrs. Effie Luella Flowers, 88, 1234 N.W. Western, died Friday, Jan. 11, at her home.
She was born July 13, 1896, at Lawrence, the daughter of Samuel Calvin and Lucy Elmina Breeding Michael.
Mrs. Flowers was baptized in the Church of the Brethren at Appanoose. She was active in the VIP Luncheon Program at North Topeka Baptist Church, a past president of Grant Mother's Study Club and a former member of the Parent Teachers Association of Grant and Curtis Elementary schools and Topeka High School. She also was a member of the Union Pacific Wives Club and had worked on election boards many years.
She was married to Aldred Eugene Flowers Dec. 24, 1912. He died Nov. 23, 1972. An infant daughter, Mary Flowers, died Jan. 4, 1915, a second daughter, Mrs. Ione Suddarth died Dec. 5, 1934, and a son, Harvey E. Flowers died Oct. 27, 1968.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs Gertrude Stone, 1302 N. Taylor, Mrs. Leona Thompson, McFarland, Mrs. Ida Roberts, Muldrow, Okla., and Mrs. Mina Stovall, 2603 W. 10th; three sisters, Mrs. Elmina Hansen, address unavailable, Mrs. Kathryn Sutherland, Oseola, Mo., and Mrs. Loretha Morgan, 1240 Republican; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery. The casket will remain closed.
