Mrs. Henry Swaim Died Friday
Wife Of Jackson Township Trustee Had Long Been An Invalid
Mrs. Sarah Swaim, wife of Trustee Henry Swaim of Jackson township, passed away Friday afternoon at her home, after a period of invalidism extending over five or six years. The physicians had been unable to determine the exact nature of her affliction which involved the kidneys and liver. She had taken treatment extensively and was in a hospital at Ft. Wayne for a time. She had grown better, apparently this spring and last Tuesday went to Montpelier with her husband. That night she was stricken with chills, and other attacks followed and death came in one of these attacks Friday.
Mrs. Swaim was a daughter of Samuel and Catherine Batson, both of whom are living, and also leaves her husband and two sons, Alva and Orval, by her second marriage, to Mr. Swaim, while four children survive by a former marriage. They are Lloyd, Elmer and Linton Smithen, and Mrs. Edith Younce. Brothers and sisters who survive her are Nathaniel and Henry Batson, and Medsames Charles Beavens, Andy Foust and Homer Knott.
The funeral will be held Sunday at two o'clock at the Prairie creek church at the little town known as Chicago, and burial will take place in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Montpelier. Rev. Horton will have charge of the services.
