Mary Lee Doster was born in Ariton, Alabama, on September 10, 1897 to the Rev. Simeon Doster and Annie Tom Seay Doster. To her siblings she was known as "Sister. In 1919 she received her teaching certificate in Daleville, Alabama. On December 20 of 1919 she married her lifelong mate Jay Gordon Golson and they started a family in 1921, ultimately 3 boys and 5 girls. They lived in Sherman, Texas, Donalsonville, Georgia, and retired to Columbus, Georgia in 1948. On February 1, 1958, her heart gave out and she went to meet her Lord.
