Our beloved companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, LeRoy C. Lloyd, 69, passed away on July 29, 2010, following a year-long battle with liver cancer.

The fourth of four boys, he was born to Frederick Edward and Blanche Beckstead Lloyd on October 6, 1940. He was a graduate of Bingham High School.

LeRoy was sealed to his sweetheart, Evelyn Funk, on September 17, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised one daughter.

LeRoy served, and was honorably discharged, from both the Army of the United States and the Army National Guard. He retired after 28 years with the Tooele Army Depot and then worked 12 years as a security guard. Most of his adult life was also spent educating young men and women on the importance of hunting and gun safety, as a Utah Hunter Education Instructor. He could talk to anyone and made friends easily wherever he went. He will be remembered for his ability and willingness to give the best bear hugs – something we will miss!

Active in the LDS Church, LeRoy held many positions; one of his favorites was being involved in the Boy Scouts where he helped many young men achieve their Eagle Award.

LeRoy is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, daughter, Kimberlee (Stewart) Hewlett, seven grandchildren, Ryan (Maggie), Michael (Chelsey), Justin, Katie, Megan, Kennadee, Aubree, and one great-grandson, Ethan. Also survived by his brothers, Merlyn (Donna), Norman (Dorothy), and sister-in-law, Patricia, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother (LaVelle).

The family wishes to thank the staff at Utah Hospice Specialists for their loving care during LeRoy's final days.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 11 am at the Flint Drive Chapel, 9800 S. Flint Drive (1150 E.), Sandy.

A viewing will be held Monday, August 2, 2010 from 6-8 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.), So. Jordan, and again on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 am.

Interment at Riverton City Cemetery.
