---Roxie Ellen Downes, daughter of Clarinda and Benona Paine Downes, was born February 25, 1875 at Milan, Missouri and died at her home at Callao April 6, 1942.
---She was married to Phineas G. Cook December 24, 1890 at La Plata by Rev. Northcutt, Christian minister. To this union seven children were born, three dying in infancy.
---She leaves, besides her husband, one son D. Clay of Buffalo, New York and three daughters, Maude Burns of Napa, Idaho, Viola Haynes of Pekin, Illinois and Mabel Winget of South Gifford; four grandchildren, Priscella and Margaret Cook, Bobby Haynes and Bobby Burns.
---She united with the Christian Church at Callao at an early age and was a faithful member until the time of her death.
---She was at one time affiliated with the Rebekah Lodge and was at the time of her death, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Royal Neighbor Lodge at Callao.
---Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Christian Church in Callao at 2 p.m. Services were conducted by Rev. Laid of Queen City, Rev. Mayhew and Rev. S.O. Borland, pastor of the Methodist Church at Callao.
