Louisa Miller - One of the truly pioneer mothers was removed this week from the scene of earthly life, by the death of Mrs. Louisa Pauley Miller, who after more than a year of much bodily suffering, died about noon Tuesday at the family residence on south Market street.
Mrs. Miller was born near Crawfordsville, Nov. 23, 1829, and while yet a babe in arms came to this immediate vicinity where she has ever since resided. Her father, homesteaded from the government, the land that is now known as the Garrett farm east of town, and it was there they resided.
In April 4, 1852 she was married to James H. Miller and for him reared seven children, David Miller and Mrs. J. W. Boyer of Stockwell, children of Mr. Miller by a former marriage, and five by their union. They are William Miller, Mrs. J. J. Rambo of Muskogee, I.T., Mrs. Belle Baker, deceased, Mrs. Dora Gillillian and Mrs. Emma Daugherty. Mrs. J. S. O'Rear is the only surviving sister.
When the Methodist church of Thorntown was organized, she was an original member and her death probably removes the last of the old charter members. She was an active church worker and ever did her whole duty.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning from the family residence with religious services by Pastor DeLong after which the body was lain to rest in the Old Cemetery.
