"The LaFayette Sun" - May 14, 1930:

The death of Mrs. Nannie Hawkins came as a shock to her many relatives and friends late Thursday afternoon, when pleasure turned to sadness, after she had tried to finish some work she wanted to get done. Her work was found unfinished. Her lifeless body was found on the bed with no one near to see the spirit take its happy, homeward flight. Let's commit ourselves to the one who maketh sore hearts and heals them with the same untiring hand.
She leaves to mourn her departure a grief stricken husband, W. H. Hawkins; a step mother, Mrs. Mollie Sanders, of Tiller's Cross Roads; five brothers, Dr. Sanders, of Notasulga; Hamp Sanders, of Hampton; Elbert Sanders, of LaFayette, Camillas Sanders, of Dadeville, and a brother in Chilton County, one half brother, K. Sanders, of Tiller's Cross Roads and Mrs. Mattie Blanton, of LaFayette, besides a wealth of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held at Macedonia Church Friday afternoon with Elder Parrish officiating. Interment was in the Macedonia Cemetery.
Col. and Mrs. H. E. Gipson and son, Edward and little daughter, Missouri, of Prattville, attended the funeral of Mrs. Hawkins.
