Leon Horath, age 56, east Peoria, IL formerly of Atlanta, construction laborer, died Tuesday (June 22, 1993).

Member: Volunteers for Peoria Blind Center, Spring Bay American Legion.

Survivors: mother, Augusta Horath, Atlanta; wife, Maryellen; sons, Kevin, Chatham; Jessie, Roseville; daughter, Jennifer, at home; sisters, Betty Simmons and Lena Newman, both of Middletown; Thelma Matthews, Atlanta.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Atlanta. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, with 8 p.m. rosary. Burial: Atlanta Cemetery.

The funeral of Leon Horath, 56, of 208 North St., East Peoria, formerly of Atlanta, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Atlanta, IL.

The Rev. Glenn Fontana will officiate. Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Mr. Horath died at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday (June 22, 1993) at his home. He had been ill.

He was born Aug. 24, 1936, in LeClede, a son of Artie and Augusta (nee Hawkey) Horath. He married Maryellen Koehler Aug. 24, 1975, in Atlanta. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Atlanta; one daughter, Jennifer, at home; two sons, Kevin, Chatham, and Jesse, Roseville; and three sisters, Betty Simmons and Lena Newman, both of Middletown, and Thelma Matthews, Atlanta.

His father and two brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Horath had been employed in the construction industry as a laborer.

He was a volunteer for the Peoria Blind Center, and was active in 4-H. He was a member of Lourdes Church, Spring Bay, and the Spring Bay American Legion.

Memorials may be made to the Jennifer Horath Educational Fund, in care of the First National Bank, Washington.
