Funeral services for Casssius McCarty were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Waggener and Campbell chapel by the Rev. R. F. Vick of the Methodist church. During the services Mrs. Vick sang two solo selections accompanied at the organ by Mrs. J. M. Carlson. Friends acting as pall bearers were T. C. Hodges, A. J. Shaw, Mayo Shultz, E. C. Marken, G. H. Conrad and R. A. Mather.
Obituary.
Cassius M. McCarty was born May 18, 1868 at Little Washington, Pennsylvania. He grew up there and then moved to Iowa as a young man. He served his apprenticeship as a carpenter there and followed building work and contracting the rest of his life. He came to Kalispell in 1896 and made his home here with the exception of the past five years when he lived at Spokane, Washington.
On March 11, 1936, he was married to Grace McKiddie. He was a member of the Methodist church, the carpenters' union and for many years a member of the Masonic lodge.
Mr. McCarty passed away at his home in Spokane November 13, 1946 at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace McCarty, at the home; a daughter and two sons by a former marriage, Mrs. Allen Davis of Eugene, Oregon, Ralph McCarty of Medford, Oregon, and Fred MCarty of Pomona, California; also two step-children, Mrs. Fay Hanshaw of Spokane and Milton McKiddie of Troy, Montana; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
