Joseph Malecha, 91, of Northfield, died Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at Three Links Care Center.
Joseph Francis Charles Malecha was born March 21, 1910, to Frank and Elizabeth (Skulzacek) Malecha, in Wheatland Township, Rice County. He was baptized, confirmed and attended school at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale.
After his education, he farmed with his brother Tom.
On October 30, 1934, he married Christine Valek at Church of the Annunciation in Hazelwood. In 1937 they purchased a farm in Webster Township. They later sold the farm and rented various farms in northern Rice and Southern Dakota counties until 1960 when they purchased a farm in Greenvale Township. Malecha retired in 1975 and he and his wife remained on the farm until moving to Three Links Care Center in 1998.
Malecha was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, and a former member of the Catholic Workmen and Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
Malecha is survived by his wife; and children; Arnie (Jeanne); Lorraine (Bernard) Andreas; and Dale (Arlene) all of Northfield; Robert (Marion) of Battle Lake; Richard (Bonnie) of Jordan; Lucy (Harold) Kuchinka, Lonsdale; and Eileen Cooper of Northfield.
