He lived in Delaware County, Indiana most of his life. He was a Corporal in the US Army during WWII and served 3 years in the China/Burma Theatre portion of that war.

He was a tool and die maker at Durham Manufacturing in Muncie for over 35 years.

Elwood is survived by: daughter, Sherlene(Flannery) Clevenger (husband-Mike); son, Dale Flannery (wife-Gayle); son, Wayne Flannery (wife-Roxie); son, David Flananery; daughter, Zaneda "Skeeter" (Flannery) Burney (husband-Gary); eight grandchildren, and three great-grandsons.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bill Flannery, Glen Flannery; sisters: Ardith (Flannery) Ruiz, Jewel (Flannery) Roche; and his precious grandson, Jamey Lynn Clevenger.
