HARLINGEN, TX. — Rafael V. Avila Jr.,
61, entered into rest on November 5, 2009 in Harlingen.

He is survived by his loving family his parents; Rafael and Camila Avila and his sisters; Genoveva (Ismael) Martinez, Aurelia (Alfredo) Perez, Jovita (Jaime) Huerta all of Harlingen and Estela (Antonio) Martinez of Michigan; brothers, Juan (Lupita) Avila and Roman (Leticia) Avila also of Harlingen. He is also survived by, Lila Zoerner and Patrick and Roel Zoerner and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Avila was a member of the Knights of Columbus and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Visitation will be held Monday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00p.m at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 departing the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harlingen.

Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery Circle of Honor in Harlingen under the auspices of the American Legion Post #205.

Pallbearers will be; Roman (RJ) Avila, Jr., Laura Avila, Alfredo Perez, Jr., Joseph Martinez, Jesse Huerta, Patrick Zoener, Marlene Avila and Carlos Martinez.

A special thanks to the nurses and staff and maintenance crew at VBMC for their special care and attention and prayers.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen.
