Funeral Monday For Mr. McGinnes
Waelder-Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in Houston for V. R. McGinnes, a Houston contractor, who suffered injuries early Saturday while on an excavation job at Sugar Land.
Mr. McGinnes, 45, was a partner in McGinnes Brother, an Excavation company, died at 6:30 p.m. in a Rosenberg hospital.
Mr. McGinnes was born and reared at Thompsonville, the son of Lawrence and Carrie Gilmore, later the family moved to East Texas. Besides being a partner in the contracting firm, he was also associated with Briscoe Irrigation company of Alvin. Mr. McGinnes was a member of the Garden Villas Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, Dora May McGinnes, a daughter, Vivian Ruth, and a son Robert Howell McGinnes, all of Houston. Two brothers, V. C. McGinnes of Alvin and L. B. McGinnes of bArcadia, and one sister, Dr. Willie Mae Gilliam of Galveston. He was a nephe of Mrs.J. I. Alford and Mrs. L. J. Thibadaux of this city.
Attending the funeral from here were Mr. and Mrs. James P. Alford and Mrs, Thibadaux.
