Clara Clementine Reed was a daughter of Michael R. Reed and Minerva (Sparks) Reed. Her maternal grandparents are William Crain Sparks and Jane Alexander Sparks.

Her father died during the Civil War. Clara married Robert F. Jackson of Arkansas on June 21, 1896, in Bell County, Texas.
